Legal Aid Certificates

Our office does not arrange legal aid directly with the client. To obtain a legal aid certificate you must contact the Legal Aid Ontario office in the municipality in which you reside. If you qualify for assistance, the Legal Aid Office will issue a certificate and that certificate must be forwarded to the lawyer of your choice. For more information contact Legal Aid Ontario.

Our office accepts Legal Aid Certificates issued by Legal Aid Ontario on a case-by-case basis. We reserve the right not to accept a Legal Aid Certificate. The rate at which Legal Aid Ontario remunerates our firm for services and disbursements is set out in the appropriate legislation and regulations which govern the Legal Aid Plan.

 Other Legal Assistance Plans

Our office accepts a number of private Legal Plans, which we are not allowed to publicize the names of which pursuant to our agreement with these plans. Many times our clients are referred to our firm directly through the individual Plan's directors and administrators.

 DIVORCE (Uncontested)

Includes meeting with client, reviewing all documentation, preparing, drafting & reviewing Petition for Divorce; attending upon client to review and sign Petition; issuing Petition for Divorce and serving on Respondent; preparing, drafting & reviewing Motion Record, Notice of Motion, Affidavits, Requisitions, Draft Judgment, etc.; attending upon client to review and sign affidavits; obtain Divorce Judgment; preparing, drafting & reviewing final affidavit and Divorce Certificate; attending upon client to review and sign affidavit; attending Court and obtaining Divorce Certificate; & reporting to client.

Can $ 600.00
plus disbursements and applicable taxes.

DIVORCE (Contested)

Can $ 250.00

Hourly Legal Services

OTHER FEES

Our law firm is cognizant of the fact that some people cannot afford our fees at our regular rate or that the fees which may be charged are disproportionate to the results an action may produce.

We try hard to accommodate selected clients in providing payment schedules and/or reducing our hourly fee normally charged (such as a reduced rate for small claims court matters).

Our law office is not a financing institution and if you need financial assistance to cover your legal fees, we strongly suggest that you contact the Legal Aid offices nearest to you to determine if you would qualify for such assistance.

PURCHASE

Acting on client(s) behalf as purchaser, including perusal of Offer to Purchase, receiving instructions, correspondence with vendor's solicitors, attendances at the Registry Office and searching the title, obtaining Tax Certificate, Sheriff's Certificate, verifying Statement of Adjustments, attending at the Registry Office and closing the transaction, and reporting to client and including other incidental consultations, correspondence and telephone calls.

Acting on client(s) behalf in connection with first mortgage including receiving instructions, attendance at the Registry Office and searching the title, obtaining Tax Certificate, Sheriff's Certificate, and Surveyor's Certificate; Preparing of mortgage and attending on the execution and registration thereof, receiving and disbursing funds, certifying title to the mortgage company, to arranging for insurance coverage in the name of the mortgagee and reporting to them and to all other incidental telephone calls and correspondence

Can $ 550.00 without mortgage

Can $ 600.00 with mortgage
